New Strain of Lab Mice Mimic Human Alcohol Consumption Patterns

Associate Professor Nicholas Grahame, Ph.D., and doctoral student Liana M. Matson conduct research to better understand the brain mechanism involved in alcohol consumption. December 21, 2011 — A line of laboratory mice developed by a researcher from the Purdue School of Science at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) drinks more alcohol than other animal models and consumes it in a fashion similar to humans: choosing alcohol over other options and binge drinking.
