Attacking Emerging Health Risks Through Innovative Health Information Technology

Shaun Grannis, M.D.October 6, 2009 — Researchers from Indiana University and the Regenstrief Institute, with its world-renowned medical informatics research group and regional health information exchange, have been awarded a $4.8 million grant by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to create the Indiana Center of Excellence in Public Health Informatics, one of only four such centers in the nation.

Irwin, Jr. M.D. Experience Excellence Recognition Award which honors faculty and staff members for service “above and beyond the call of duty.” The deadline for nominations is 5 p.m. on Aug. 7, 2009.

IU Alumni Weekends Bring Hundreds of Former Students to IUPUI

May 28, 2009 —  More than 825 alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends participated recently in IU Alumni weekend reunions at IUPUI, with some alumni travelling as far away as Hawaii, Texas, California, Maryland, Arizona, and Florida to visit campus.
IU Law-Indianapolis and the Schools of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Medicine, and Nursing held the alumni events.

Healthcare and Patient Safety Expert to Keynote Annual Lectureship

March 3, 2009 — Bonnie Mowinski Jennings, DNSc, RN, FAAN, will be the distinguished lecturer at the Ninth Annual Sonna Ehrlich Merk Distinguished Lectureship on Friday, March 6, 2009—an event that promotes collaboration between nursing service and education. A luncheon and lecture, hosted jointly by the Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) and Clarian Health will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of the University Place Conference Center & Hotel on the IUPUI campus. Dr. Jennings’s presentation is entitled “The Care Environment: Can Chaos, Commotion and Quality Coexist?”
