Dentistry's Summer Institute Expands to Include Rural Indiana Students

August 7, 2009 — The Indiana University School of Dentistry’s second annual Dental Summer Institute (DSI) drew more than twice the number of participants as 2008’s program, thanks to enthusiastic word-of-mouth assessments from the students who enrolled last year and a new component of the program focusing on young people from rural Hoosier backgrounds.

Dental School Volunteers Add Adult Screenings to Expo Health Fair

July 24, 2009 — Adults attending this summer’s Indiana Black Expo were able to have their own dental health assessed in addition to their youngsters’, thanks to a new screening program conducted by volunteers from the IU School of Dentistry at IUPUI working in tandem with the Indiana State Department of Health and the Marion County Health Department.

Getting to the Art of the Matter: Herron Students "Screen" IU's Dental Patients

May 29, 2009 — Soon after renovations to the IU School of Dentistry’s Patient Admissions division were completed, the Clinical Affairs faculty and staff decided that the remodeled area could benefit from an additional element of privacy to further separate the bank of patient registration desks from the nearby reception seating. They went looking for a solution – and found it in the creative vision of two students from the Herron School of Art and Design.

Graduate Dental Student Receives Nation's Highest Research Award in Orthodontics

Dental School's Kids Club Steers Patient Education during "Give Kids a Smile"

February 13, 2009 —     While IU School of Dentistry faculty, staff, and alumni managed the screening, dental hygiene, and treatment clinics during Give Kids a Smile, more than 70 dental and dental assisting students offered patients and their families wide-ranging services designed to promote the oral health of each of the disadvantaged children who participated in the event on Feb. 6.
