INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis soccer standout Kyle Hyland signed a deal with the Columbus Crew on Feb. 27, becoming the first player in IUPUI history to earn a spot on a Major League Soccer team roster. Hyland led The Summit League with eight goals this past season and was later voted Second Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire All-Region.

INDIANAPOLIS - The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance has selected Brian Culp, an associate professor in kinesiology at IUPUI, for the Social Justice and Diversity Young Professional Award. The award will be presented April 25 at the alliance’s national convention in Charlotte, N.C.

The IUPUI Office of Sustainability has announced the winners of the 2012 Greening IUPUI grant. The nine fund recipients proposed projects such as planting native and urban gardens, increasing sustainability-related educational opportunities and developing sustainable best practices. Projects will begin this spring.
