January 11, 2010 — During the week of January 10-16, Indiana will be joining a nationwide effort spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to urge more Americans to get vaccinated against the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus.

Students: Steps to Avoid Flu; Action to Take if You Become Ill

September 18, 2009 —  Dear Students: As you may know, college campuses across the United States are currently seeing spikes in the number of students with cases of the H1N1 influenza virus. Last spring, the H1N1 virus had a minimal effect on IUPUI’s operations but the federal Centers for Disease Control and the Indiana State Department of Health now expect that the H1N1 flu will be more widespread this fall and will have a significantly greater effect on normal activities.

State Health Commissioner Says Influenza Vaccines are Safe and Effective

September 17, 2009 — State Health Commissioner Judy Monroe, M.D. is urging Hoosiers to get the seasonal influenza (flu) vaccine now and to plan to get the 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine when it is offered in Indiana.

IU suspends summer study programs in Mexico

April 29, 2009 — BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Patrick O'Meara, Indiana University's vice president for international affairs, today announced that he has suspended all IU summer 2009 study programs in Mexico because of the increased health risks associated with North American Human Influenza A (H1N1), commonly known as swine flu.
