Timothy P. Brown has been appointed IU School of Dentistry assistant dean for finance and administration, Dean John Williams announced.
The assistant deanship is a new position, replacing the dental school’s former position of chief financial officer.
“Attention to strategic financial matters will be a key responsibility,” Williams said. Brown’s expertise will be most beneficial to the school as it deals with issues such as the rapidly changing health care reimbursement financial environment and enhancing clinical efficiency, he said.
Brown comes to his dental school appointment after a 20-year career at the IU School of Medicine. He served as the medical school’s associate chief financial officer for the past 12 years and was interim associate dean for administration, operation and finance in 2011-12. While at the medical school, he directed the daily operations of the Office of Financial Affairs, provided leadership in the areas of strategic financial planning and capital investment as well as providing evaluation and management of school wide business operations.
Brown received a Bachelor of Science, majoring in finance, and an MBA from Indiana University.
