The highly successful Tech Camp for Teachers will hold its 15th annual event July 23 to 26 at the Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI. Tech Camp offers educators a chance to learn techniques in teaching the latest software and computer programming, as well as opportunities to discuss curriculum, assignments, teaching strategies and level objectives. Tech Camp attendees get to meet with college professors and authors to discuss collaborative projects, articulated credit and college expectations.

The Computer Information Technology department has sponsored Tech Camp for 15 years, and it is the school’s largest outreach to K-12 teachers. Participants in the camp will include 65 high school and college instructors from across several states. The camp will feature guest presenters as well as IUPUI faculty. Among the renowned speakers this year is Corinne Hoisington, author and Microsoft ambassador. The goal of the camp is to provide these teachers with software skills and curriculum ideas in all the latest and greatest software.

This year the camp will have three tracks: Advanced Office, Mobile/Web Programming and Organizing Your Adobe Course. Each day is a balanced mix of lecture, discussion, demonstration and lab time. Attendees receive copies of the latest textbooks and trial software to further their experience. Other positive byproducts of the week have been articulation agreements, part-time teaching opportunities, IUPUI Web hosting for high school projects and great camaraderie.
