The Moving Company @ IUPUI, a local dance company, will bring down the curtain on its 2011-2012 season with a final show April 28, 2012 at Warren Performing Arts Center, 9500 East 16th St. in Indianapolis.

The show, entitled “It’s About Time”, will begin at 8pm, with doors opening at 7:30pm.

The dance company, comprised of 37 students, will perform pieces with an overarching theme related to time, in some cases about specific times in individuals’ lives and in others about actual clock times.

The dances will cover a range of dance styles, from a lyrical ballet style to tap to modern. In addition, another IUPUI group, the Swing Cats, will join the Moving Company in its season-ending performance.

“The Moving Company @ IUPUI prides itself on providing IUPUI students a professional attitude of performance”, said Moving Company Director Paige Prill Craigie.

This year marks the 29th year for the company, making it one of the oldest student organizations on campus. It began in 1983 with Margot Faught as a Masters project; Faught now resides and works in New York as a professional choreographer.

The Moving Company is unique in the sense that it serves both as a student organization and as a course in dance, Craigie noted.

“It’s About Time” will feature pieces that were performed earlier in the season, including several pieces that were adjudicated at the Student Choreography Concert in February. There will debut pieces as well, choreographed by the company’s alumni. Choreographers include IUPUI faculty Craigie and Adrienne Jackson, a former member of Indianapolis’ Kenyetta Dance Company; and IUPUI alumnus Chelsea Johnson; and add Ed Godby-Schwab a faculty member.

Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for students with ID. For more information, call (317) 274‐ 2248 or contact the company director, Paige Craigie, at
