IUPUI hosts unprecedented delegation from Sun Yat-Sen University

IUPUI hosted an unprecedented delegation from strategic partner Sun Yat-Sen University in China March 19–30. Thirty-seven deans, associate deans, and heads of units arrive at IUPUI for intensive two-week training in the area of teaching and learning.

SYSU is being hosted on the IUPUI campus by the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning. Director Pratibha Varma-Nelson has put together a training program that covers peer-led learning, service learning, student-centered teaching, developing and assessing learning outcomes, learning management systems, and other tools.

The 37-person delegation includes Deans and high officials from all schools at SYSU, including

It is unprecedented for so many academic leaders to be out of the country at one time, an act that demonstrates their commitment to improving teaching and learning outcomes in their home institutions and also to the strategic partnership between IUPUI and Sun Yat-Sen University.
