The United States Auto Club (USAC) Elite 8 Midget Series presented by Motorsports at IUPUI will close out its eight-event series with a special treat for fans on the last night, Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

All three classes of cars will compete in double features, giving fans twice as much racing for their tickets to the races at the Bryant Heating and Cooling Systems Indianapolis Speedrome.

Fans will be able to walk the pit area and meet the drivers and view the cars from 4:30-5:30 p.m. July 20 at the Speedrome, 802 South Kitley Ave. on Indianapolis’s east side. Practice begins at 5:30 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m.

Any Indianapolis area youth participating in a summer reading program will get free admission to the races courtesy of the Laps for Literacy program. Discount $5 tickets are also available for the parents of youth in summer reading programs. The full ticket price for the event is $10.

The 2011 season marks the first partnership between USAC and IUPUI. USAC has been the primary sanctioning body for open wheel race cars competing in the U.S. since 1956, while IUPUI has the unique distinction of offering the country’s only four-year bachelor’s degree in motorsports engineering. The partnership offers unique opportunities for students to see the inner workings of an important motorsports series.
