IUPUI hopes to boost recycling in on-campus housing with single-stream bins

May 24, 2012 — The IUPUI Office of Sustainability has announced the winners of the 2012 Greening IUPUI grant. The nine fund recipients proposed projects such as planting native and urban gardens, increasing sustainability-related educational opportunities and developing sustainable best practices. Projects will begin this spring.

Tree-planting parties scheduled to promote urban sustainability

April 27, 2012 — On Arbor Day, Friday, April 27, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis will host the first of two tree-planting parties as part of the campus’s effort to make IUPUI a Tree Campus USA, as well as educate the IUPUI and Indianapolis communities on the environmental benefits of trees.

IUPUI to Reduce Carbon Footprint by Participation in Green Power Option

March 5, 2012 — Campus Facility Services at IUPUI announced that it has entered into an agreement with Indianapolis Power and Light Company (IPL) to purchase 10 percent of the electricity generated for IUPUI through renewable energy resources via IPL’s Green Power Option program. The Green Power Option is a voluntary program that allows the user to direct IP&L to purchase energy from environmentally friendly renewable sources.
