Assistant chemistry professor at the School of Science at IUPUI, Dr. Sapna Deo, quickly made her mark on the world of chemistry and research when she was recently awarded the “Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers” from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF award for scientists is one of the most prestigious awards honoring investigators excellence in the laboratory and classroom.

There is art and there is science. Most people think they are not related. For Gary Rosenberg, they are inseparable.
Rosenberg, an associate professor of Earth Sciences at IUPUI, has been elected a Fellow of the Geological Society of America, an honor that is reserved for the best in his discipline. Members of the society are elected to Fellowship in recognition of distinguished contributions to geosciences.

Herron Art Library, part of IUPUI University Library, has partnered with the Harrison Center for the Arts to sponsor “Bookish,” an Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association First Friday event. The exhibit's opening reception was held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Harrison Center for the Arts, 1501 N. Delaware St. The artwork will hang through Aug. 29, 2009. Both the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

IUPUI professor Edward Curtis has dedicated his latest volume, "The New Black Gods: Arthur Huff Fauset and the Study of African American Religions" (IU Press, 2009) to the IU School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
June 11, 2009 — The Indiana University Alumni Association recently announced the recipients of the IUAA Scholars program scholarships. The IUAA Scholars program, now in its 15th year, awarded a total of 28 scholarships valued at $1,000 each for this academic year.
