Chancellor Charles R. BantzDecember 5, 2011 — On Thursday, Dec. 1, the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law was born. “Overwhelmed” was Bob McKinney’s reaction when he saw the atrium at Inlow Hall filled to capacity—students, faculty, and staff at least four-deep on the balconies at every level of the building looking on—as he accepted the thanks, applause, and multiple standing ovations that came his way after the announcement of his $24 million gift to the school. With matching funds from the university, the value of his contribution to the school tops $31 million, which will mean five endowed professorships, an endowment fund for student scholarships, and a vision for achieving the status of a top 30 law school in national rankings.

October 19, 2011 — Students from Indiana University will find out what it is like to be in the vortex of confusion surrounding a large-scale urban crisis when the university holds its second biennial Counterterrorism Simulation on Oct. 28, 2011. The simulation will begin at 8 a.m. at the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis building, Inlow Hall, located at 530 W. New York St. on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) campus.

Chancellor Charles R. BantzOctober 10, 2011 — IUPUI is the proud host of the 17th annual conference of the Coalition of Metropolitan Universities (CUMU) this week. Yesterday CUMU conference attendees were treated to a bus tour and opening session by Super Bowl Host Committee President and CEO Allison Melangton on the citywide coalition that submitted the winning Super Bowl bid. Today and tomorrow, conference sessions will be held throughout the University Place Conference Center.
