Fifth annual book arts exhibit sponsored by IUPUI University Library

July 17, 2012 — IUPUI University Library’s Herron Art Library has partnered with the Harrison Center for the Arts to sponsor "Bookmark," an Indianapolis Downtown Artists & Dealers Association First Friday event. The exhibit opening reception will be at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at the Harrison Center for the Arts, 1505 N. Delaware St. in Indianapolis. The artwork will be on view until Aug. 29. Both the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

Polis Center at IUPUI hosting NEH institute advancing exploration of space and maps

NEH Institute MeetingJune 26, 2012 — The Virtual Center for Spatial Humanities, a multi-disciplinary collaboration among Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, Florida State University and West Virginia University, is hosting an advanced institute in spatial narratives and deep maps. Funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, this two-week intensive institute brings leading scholars from around the world to explore how deep maps can support relevant issues in spatial humanities.

Plan to create first School of Philanthropy approved by IU Trustees: proposal to go to CHE for consideration

TempelJune 22, 2012 — GARY -- The Indiana University Board of Trustees has given its approval for the formation of a School of Philanthropy to be located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis campus. The proposal would create what is believed to be the world's first school dedicated to the study and teaching of philanthropy and builds on the strengths of the existing Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, an internationally recognized leader in philanthropy education, research and training.
