Patent Issued for Work on Nutrition of Very Low Birth Weight Infants

Debbie Abel May 16, 2011 — Debbie Abel, Visiting Lecturer of Nutrition & Dietetics; Coordinator, Leadership Education in MCH Nutrition (Pediatric Focus); and PhD candidate in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) was recently issued a patent for her systematic approach to recording, calculating and presenting nutritional data specifically related to the feeding and resulting growth outcomes of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants.

BantzApril 11, 2011 — The winners of the 2011 Research Frontiers Trailblazer Awards at Friday’s ( April 8, 2011) IUPUI Research Day garnered honors for research on Afro-Brazilian religious practices, the biology of ovarian cancer, and the metabolism and reparative ability of bone.

Managing Post-stroke Depression Improves Physical Functioning

Fairbanks Foundation Awards $20 Million Grant for New Public Health School at IUPUI

June 15, 2010 — Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie announced today (June 15) that the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation of Indianapolis has awarded a $20 million grant to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to help fund its proposed school of public health and provide increased support for public health initiatives in Indiana.

IU Alumni Weekends Bring Hundreds of Former Students to IUPUI

May 28, 2009 —  More than 825 alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends participated recently in IU Alumni weekend reunions at IUPUI, with some alumni travelling as far away as Hawaii, Texas, California, Maryland, Arizona, and Florida to visit campus.
IU Law-Indianapolis and the Schools of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, Medicine, and Nursing held the alumni events.

IU Will Create Public Health Schools at IUPUI and IU Bloomington

May 6, 2009 — In response to long-standing public health needs in Indiana, Indiana University President Michael A. McRobbie today announced a plan that calls for the formation of two schools of public health, one at IU Bloomington and the other at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
