Academic Affairs Appoints Two New Faculty Fellows

The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Dean of the Faculties is pleased to announce the appointment of Gail F. Williamson and Richard Jackson as Faculty Fellows in the Office of Academic Affairs.

 Among their many duties, Dr. Williamson will focus on Faculty Enhancement through Promotion and Tenure workshops and faculty mentoring as well as leadership development for school academic administrators while Dr. Jackson will assist the 2012 North Central Accreditation Steering Committee.

Dr. Williamson is a Professor in the Department of Oral Pathology, Medicine and Radiology in the School of Dentistry where she serves as Director of Allied Dental Radiology. She joined the faculty in 1974 and has been a Professor since 1999. She is currently in her second term on the campus Promotion and Tenure Committee.

Dr. Jackson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Community and Preventive Dentistry in the School of Dentistry where he serves as Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee. For twenty years, he has maintained a program of funded research and scholarship in the areas of dental fluorosis/dental caries and health literacy.

The Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow position is a half-time appointment for two years. Both Professor Williamson and Professor Jackson will begin their duties in July, 2009.
Out-going Faculty Enhancement Fellow, Dr. Richard Turner, is retiring after nearly forty years of dedicated service to IUPUI. He has been involved in faculty development for the last several years. Two other fellows, Dr. Lisa Riolo and Dr. Bessie House-Soremekun, continue in their work with Academic Affairs for one more year.
