The IU School of Informatics held a lawn party Sept. 19 to welcome students to a new academic year and to build a sense of community among students, faculty and staff.
Held on the lawns adjacent to its building, the lawn party featured food, fun and games. Hula Hoop, jump rope and paddle ball were among the games students played for prizes.
Students also conquered the climbing tower and played wizard’s chess, the enchanted version of the classic board game that was played in a Harry Potter movie. Like the movie, students were commanded to move by two opposing players. The two players moved their ‘pieces” by speaking the name of the piece and the square to which it was to move.
Clubs at the school also set up informational tables to share and attract students to their activities.
