February 20, 2012
Since the announcement nearly three years ago that there would be a school of public health at IUPUI, Associate Vice Chancellor for Public Health G. Marie Swanson has led steps to build up the existing Department of Public Health in the IU School of Medicine in preparation for seeking accreditation for a school from the Council on Education for Public Health.
Today, I am pleased to announce that I have formed a search committee, led by Distinguished Professor of Nursing Victoria Champion, to seek candidates for the founding dean of our developing school of public health. This will be a national search. Updates will be posted to the www.iupui.edu/administration/search/ web site as they occur. We anticipate that there will be keen interest in the academic public health community for this unique opportunity, and we are deeply committed to securing a highly qualified and diverse applicant pool for this key position.
Listed below is the membership of the search committee. Please share your thoughts about potential candidates and ideal qualifications with the committee.
