Students, staff, and faculty gathered today for a rain-delayed EARTH Day celebration to plant 25 trees across campus.

The “official” 2011 Earth Day tree was planted by two students from campus honorary societies in a grassy area to the south of Taylor Hall. Funds used to purchase the trees came from schools, and student, campus and alumni organizations.

The tree planting was the first of what will be an annual event to create a more verdant campus and increase public recognition of EARTH Day.
