Congratulations to the Butler Bulldogs for their great run at the NCAA Championship last week! They played with intelligence, skill, and determination—never giving up.
We also celebrate our academic partnership with Butler: IUPUI/Butler Engineering Dual Degree Program (EDDP). In fact, two of the basketball players who were especially impressive, Gordon Hayward and Avery Jukes, are students in the EDDP. Gordon is a sophomore in computer engineering. Avery is a junior in mechanical engineering.
Our Engineering Dual Degree Program with Butler is in its 11th year now. This five-year course of study awards a B.A. or B.S. degree from Butler (usually in the sciences, such as biology, physics, computer science, chemistry, math, or economics) and a B.S. degree in engineering (biomedical, computer, electrical, or mechanical) from IUPUI.
The first two years of the program are offered at the Butler campus with our faculty teaching two to three courses per year there. Students then commute to IUPUI for the remaining three years and complete a summer internship in the final year. EDDP currently has more than 100 students enrolled and graduates 15-18 students per year.
