A sustainability expert will discuss implementing sustainable programs and improving the built environment during a lecture at IUPUI that is open to the public. The lecture will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 3 in Room 450A of the Campus Center.

Steve Moddemeyer worked within the City of Seattle, Department of Planning and Development,
as their Senior Strategic Advisor over the last 20 years in helping develop these programs and
policies. He will share the trials, tribulations, and successes from his experiences.

Among issues he will address:

• Are we missing opportunities for sustainable investments because we don’t look broadly enough at alternatives?
• Can we apply asset management tools to sustainable projects to get more value per dollar spent?
• Can we use triple bottom line accounting?
• How do you create zoning codes to require sustainable development?
• Case studies of applying and implementing strategies and new zoning codes
